CHEESE ! Today we take out our camera and we make our most beautiful smile! A preference for portraits ? Landscapes ? Objects ? Optical illusions ? For this world photography day, we invite you to discover a portrait. That of Bastien who, through his lens, embellishes each landscape he photographs.

Bastien BALBAS – 27 years old – 10 months of seniority – Architectural photography, his hobby.

 

  • Your background ? After a scientific baccalaureate that did not really correspond to me, I did a one-year MANAA (Mise A Niveau en Arts Appliqués) that I completed with a two-year BTS in Space Design. Then, wanting to enrich my background, I turned to architecture. I integrated the school of architecture of Bordeaux, the Ensapbx, during 6 years.
  • Your role today? A young draftsman who is making his way and is constantly learning and acquiring knowledge about the reality of the architectural world.
  • How do you see yourself in 10 years ? Reconciling my two passions : architecture and photography in my house in Portugal. Or if an opportunity arises… acting (we have the right to dream no ?).
  • Your favorite sport ? Walking the streets of a new city for hours. A kind of sport walking version of traveling. You don’t believe me ? Go visit Porto for a whole day on foot…
  • Your mantra ? I have several in mind, but the one that often gives rhythm to my life would be “after the rain, the good weather”. Without necessarily referring to the weather.
  • And if you had done another job ? As a child I always dreamed of being an actor, if I had pursued theater after 6 years of practice, I might have gone for it. Otherwise, my great passion for photography and travel would push me to be a travel photographer and travel the world according to the contracts that would be offered to me.

 

  • Bulle in 3 words : Conviviality – Perseverance – Meetings
  • What was the most memorable moment at Bulle ? I would even say two. First, my first day here, with its share of discoveries, assimilations and new encounters. Then the Christmas period, which was a real moment of sharing and conviviality with the whole team.
  • Who is the most gourmand at Bulle ? When you see the life expectancy of a chocolate bar in the agency, I would say everyone! But I have to admit that in this field we are a bit neck and neck with Aleena…

 

  • A nugget (store, movie, book, recipe, exhibition, restaurant…) : Too many things to tell here, I would have to share all my Mapstr (application for sharing places) and my countless lists… One address among many others : Le Frida, in Bordeaux ! It’s a small and cosy bar with a friendly atmosphere and an interior patio, very nice to go for a drink.
  • A place, a destination to visit : I wouldn’t surprise anyone by mentioning Portugal, and in particular Porto, where I had the chance to spend a year in Erasmus. I am their best promotion so much I talk about it !
  • Your favorite meal ? I love to eat too much to be able to choose just one dish… But if I had to choose only one, it would probably be my mother’s salmon pasta with my grandmother’s crostoli for dessert, an Italian specialty where I come from.
